Installing BTA Charts

BTA Charts visuals are distributed as .pbiviz files. There are two ways to make them available in a Power BI report.

Option 1 — Organizational Visuals (recommended for teams)

If your organization has published BTA Charts through the Power BI admin portal, visuals appear automatically in the Visualizations pane for all users in your tenant.

Open any report in Power BI Desktop or Power BI Service.
Look for the BTA Charts visuals in the Visualizations pane under the My organization tab (the building icon).
Click a visual to add it to your report canvas.

No file download is required. Contact your Power BI administrator if the visuals are not visible.

BTA team members: If you are part of the Beyond The Innovation organization, all BTA Charts visuals are already deployed to your tenant. You will see them directly in your Visualizations pane — no importing needed. Just open any report and start using them.

Option 2 — Import from .pbiviz File

Use this method when you have a .pbiviz file provided by Beyond The Innovation.

In Power BI Desktop

Open your report in Power BI Desktop.
In the Visualizations pane, click the "..." (ellipsis) button at the bottom of the visual icons.
Select Import a visual from a file.
Browse to the .pbiviz file and click Open.
Confirm the security prompt — Power BI will warn that custom visuals can access data. Click Import.
The visual icon appears in the Visualizations pane and is ready to use in this report.

In Power BI Service

Open your report in edit mode in the Power BI Service.
In the Visualizations pane, click the "..." ellipsis.
Select Import a visual from a file.
Upload the .pbiviz file and confirm.

Note: A visual imported from a file is available only in the report where it was imported. To share it across reports, use the organizational visuals approach described above.

AppSource (Planned)

Publication of BTA Charts to Microsoft AppSource is planned. Once available, visuals can be installed directly from the AppSource marketplace inside Power BI without any file download.
